About Our Church

Northwest Baptist Church is independent congregation meet at the Everglades Hotel.  We are a group of people from all different walks of life, backgrounds, and nationalities.  We believe in relevant Christianity, true commitment to Christ and to each other, and active participation in our community and world.

We are a Bible preaching and teaching church. We take the Bible and study it verse by verse. The Bible is alive and we allow the Bible to speak in a life-giving, exciting way, that challenges the way we live, brings conviction, causes repentance toward God and causes men and women to be saved and to honour and glorify the great God of Heaven.

We sing exciting soul stirring hymns of the faith, choruses, and spiritual songs but our music is far from contemporary. We sing exciting but traditional music. We believe that the music is already relevant to our lives and necessary for our worship and edification.

We are a world-evangelism church meaning that it is our goal to reach souls with the gospel message of Jesus here where we live and then to reach out to the entire world with the gospel message. We give to missions through a program called Faith Promise which is where our people after much prayer decide what they would like to give above their tithes and offerings to the church for the cause of world evangelism.

We are a diverse or multicultural church where everyone is welcome. God loves people from all over the world and so do we. How could we claim to be a world evangelism church and not love our neighbor who might be a different color or ethnic group.

We strive to make our church an exciting and welcoming church but to be honest it will not be all that comfortable for the sinner or the person who desires to continue living as he or she wants. Here they will hear the gospel preached that will tell them of their need for a Savior so that requires that the Holy Spirit convict of sin.

I thank God for our church and hope you will visit. I thought that this little article might help you to understand what you will find at Northwest when you come. We will welcome you. We will be glad to see you but we do come to worship the great God of Heaven and magnify His Son Jesus Christ.

About Our Beliefs

You probably have certain expectations about church, but at the same time, don’t want a “cookie-cutter” approach to worship. You need people-centred programs that are relevant for today and foundational for tomorrow.

At Northwest, we have a balanced approach that is responsive to the needs of people as well as being a source of stability. We believe when we help people connect with God and His timeless truths:

IN FAITH.  It’s been said that a genuine pearl loses its lustre if it doesn’t have frequent contact with the skin. Faith is like that. It has to be used to be useful. Ours is a church that subscribes to faith in action. A faith in action. A faith abides when the hour is dark and acts when the need arises. At Northwest, we believe in Christians who live the message.

IN CHURCH. The most expensive piece of furniture is the empty pew. Not in terms of finance or money, but in lost opportunities. Northwest is a house of prayer and rejoicing. A place where opportunities abound to serve others. We are a community of believers who really do “get something” out of worship and who gladly pass it on to others.

IN PRAYER. No need is too unimportant to bringing your heart before God is a special privilege for Christians. Northwest bathes each ministry and every member in prayer. Prayer is power and with God’s help we can run the races and move the mountains in our lives.

IN THE BIBLE. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. We come to it expectantly – for guidance and comfort – and are never disappointed. Through study we see God’s truths unfold and His power revealed. The Scriptures are our anchor, our compass, and our wellspring of strength. When it comes to the Word of God, the only thing we don’t believe in is compromise.

IN FAMILIES.  In an age when society’s pressures try to destabilize the family unit, we make families a matter of commitment. Ours is a church that strives to meet family needs and enrich the lives of each member. When life gets strenuous, the home gets stronger. Northwest wants each family in the congregation to be hopeful, confident, and full of love.

IN CHILDREN. There’s nothing more precious than the spirit of a child. That’s why Northwest is committed to serving and loving each child under its care. Our goal is not only to encourage them but also to help them make positive decisions about life. Actually our approach is simple: Each child is a ministry.

IN OUTREACH. What begins in the sanctuary should conclude in the marketplace. Because the Christian faith was never meant to be hoarded, we believe in carrying the good news to all corners of the world. Too many people today live in a spiritual vacuum. And whether they live down the street or across the ocean, Northwest looks forward to every opportunity for service. People everywhere are in desperate need of the love, hope, faith, and peace that we enjoy. That’s why we believe in being active witnesses- no matter how far our community extends.
